This long, varied and unique cycling adventure will take you to Venice (the pearl of the Adriatic) via road passes * which have the reputation of being long and difficult, such as the Grand-Saint-Bernard (2469 m ), the passo di Vaia (2113 m), the passo di San Pellegrino (1918 m), the passo de la Costazza (2175 m)... You will also discover all the charm and all the beauty of the great Italian lakes: Lake Maggiore, Lake Como, Lake Garda. During the crossing of the mountain ranges of the Brenta Dolomites and the Bellunesi Dolomites (located in the region of Trentino-Alto Adige also called South Tyrol), you will then discover a multitude of “breathtaking” landscapes!
Some short mountainous sections of this exclusive route developed in 1985 by Georges Rossini will be done on small “gravel” type roads.
* The passes are generally passable from June until the end of September. However, the opening and closing dates of the altitude passes may vary depending on the snow/weather conditions at the time.
THONON-VENICE (or Venice-Thonon), the self-guided bike-freedom formula to travel at your own pace. If someone is following you during the ride, we would recomment to use an electric support vehicle to accompany the riders. If you want to succeed at long distance cycling, the importance of training is evident. Like all distance rides you should prepare your body and mind for them. But most importantly, enjoy it!
